A global extreme is the highest or lowest price point within a futures contract's quarterly cycle.

The quarter is the longest horizon where analyzing futures levels still makes sense at all.

You'd think: the bigger the cycle, the "stronger" the level. But in UniqUnits, quarterly levels are deliberately not given any special status.

Why? The main working range for price moves is 150 to 200 pips. Weekly and two-week cycles are more than enough to work with moves of that size.

Does that mean a quarterly level is useless, though? No.

The simple fact that price is sitting at a quarterly extreme matters a lot for reading context:

- Unlike daily boundaries, the odds of a trend reversal here are significantly higher.

- The chances of a deep, extended correction also go up.
